Chevy Truck Door Latch Stuck Closed

The outter door button pushes in a little plate which activates the door release.

This somehow prevents the door lock from disengaging which prevented the door from opening. Waited tried door waited tried door repeat for over an hour got rough with door by holding handle open and pulled until it started to move then worked it until it opened. I busted the outer door handle and was able to inspect the door latch. I know the door latch is broken my question is how do i open the door.

All linkage is in. Took off inside panel and seat belt assembly then unscrewed latch assembly again sprayed the rusted latch and worked it until it was free not easy but with patience. Roll the window down and carefully push the door panel away at the top right above the latch rear of door then look down inside the door at the latch and figure out which rod fell of the latch. Well in my case the little plate wasn t popping back out.

You can take a long screw driver of piece of drill rod and manipulate the lever that opens the latch to get the door open and make repairs as needed. Usually caused by a broken. Im unable to take the door panel off with the door shut.
