Ceiling Fan Light Switch Pull Chain Not Working

Replace the old switch with a new pull chain switch then place the end cap back onto the light fixture.

Unscrew the screws where the light fixture attaches to the fan assembly. First shut off the power running to the fan. Locate the wire connections from the pull chain switch to the unit. Once the power is shut off look at the base of the fan where the light kit is attached.

The small switch where the pull chain attaches should now be visible. The switch will also need to be replaced if the chain will not pull down or if it broke off inside the fan housing. If your ceiling fan or the light on the fan doesn t work when the chain is pulled then the problem is most likely a broken fan pull chain switch. But the pull chain i have for the light is not working.

Remove the light fixture housing from the fan. The pull chain is working ok for the fan. Disconnect these wires and pull out the switch. Remove the old switch.

The first thing i would do in a situation like this is to consider replacing the pull chain light switch. What should i do.
