The optimum mounting height for a ceiling fan is 8 to 9 feet above the floor with a minimum of 7 feet for safety. Most ceiling fans come ready to install on an 8 ceiling. In a room with a standard eight foot ceiling this leaves approximately 7 feet 4 inches.
